Early Childhood Yoga - Mobile Babies, Toddlers, & Preschoolers - DC Metro Area

parents and young children having fun in yoga class

A fun, nurturing class where little ones and caregivers grow closer—one playful pose at a time.

The best thing about this class, according to the kids, is everything. The songs. The animals they get to become. The props they didn't know they'd love this much. The bubbles at the end. Ask a two-year-old what they did at yoga and you'll get a very enthusiastic answer.

Breathing Space early childhood classes are built around the genuine delight of a child who is moving, playing, and completely in their element. The developmental benefits are real, but the reason families come back semester after semester is simpler: their kid loves it.

What Happens in Class

Each class moves through yoga poses, movement games, songs, breathing exercises, and — for older toddlers and preschoolers — imaginative stories and creative movement. Caregivers and children move together throughout. There are no mats to stay on and no poses to get right. The whole room is the practice space, and every child — the one bouncing off the walls and the one watching from a caregiver's lap — belongs here.

Classes are small enough that your child's teacher actually knows them. Over a semester, that consistency adds up: children build real physical skills, develop early tools for focus and self-regulation, and settle into a routine that many families find becomes a highlight of their week.

Built for this age. Specifically.

Breathing Space early childhood classes aren't adapted from adult yoga. They're built from the ground up around how babies, toddlers, and preschoolers actually develop — drawing on developmental science, years of teaching this age group, and a genuine understanding of what it's like to be in a room full of one-year-olds.

Age ranges are set by developmental stage, not just birthday. When you register, you'll find the right class for where your child is right now.

How enrollment works

Early childhood classes run in multi-week sessions and meet at the same time each week. Registration is required. We run four semesters per year, beginning in September, January, April, and June.

The semester format is intentional. Children at this age need familiar faces, familiar routines, and a familiar teacher before they can fully settle in and participate. Most kids find their footing by the third or fourth week. A single class doesn't give them — or you — an accurate picture of what the program offers.

That said, we know that committing to a semester feels like a risk when you've never been. Our no-risk refund policy means you can register with confidence: if the class genuinely isn't the right fit after the first session, you can withdraw and receive a prorated refund.

Returning students receive early enrollment access via email. Subscribe to our newsletter to be notified when classes are enrolling.

Current classes that are no longer visible on registration pages can still be found on our class calendar.

What our Students Say

“[Yoga] class is without question a highlight of our week...Our daughter was seven months when we started, and she has only grown more and more interested and engaged each week.  Jen creates a warm environment for babies to play and learn, consistently introducing new concepts, exercises and experiences that make every session different.  She also welcomes both parents to participate, and it has become a wonderful way for us to start our weekend together as a family.”

Jen has done an amazing job making yoga fun and accessible to toddlers and preschoolers. She takes the extroverts bouncing off the ceiling and the shy ones under grownups legs and manages to engage them all every class. Each class involves adventures to exciting locations, a menagerie of animal poses and a soothing "yoga rest" with bubbles.
